CYBERJAYA, 21 May 2008 – The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) today announced an agreement with HP under which the company will set up a 60-acre campus in MSC Malaysia located in Cyberjaya, near Kuala Lumpur.

The campus will include a state-of-the-art next-generation data centre for HP’s outsourcing services business, a professional center for internal global support functions, and a call centre to support enterprise business customers.  The investment is in addition to an internal HP IT global application development and support centre announced May 2007.

Construction of the data centre and two office centres is expected to begin later this year.  Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We are very excited to have a world-renowned corporation like HP residing and growing in MSC Malaysia. To stay ahead of the game, we will focus our attention on delivering a range of sophisticated business options that go beyond the traditional offerings of a shared services and outsourcing hub,” said Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of MDeC.

According to Doraisamy Balu, senior vice president and managing director of HP Asia Pacific and Japan, the campus in Cyberjaya “reinforces HP’s position as the largest IT company in Malaysia.  More importantly, the new facilities will allow us to address the business needs of our local and global customers through innovative HP technology and services.”
