Persoft Corp Sdn Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary Persoft Properties Sdn Bhd expects to achieve MSC Malaysia Cybercentre status within the next six months.

On Nov 9, the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry gave approval for Persoft Properties to be developed as an MSC Malaysia Cybercentre.

Persoft Corp group executive director Shaiful Annuar Ahmad Shaffie said it would cost RM6mil to upgrade Persoft Tower (formerly Menara Luxor) here, in terms of infrastructure to enhance the premises.

“The physical enhancement of the building is not part of the criteria to achieve the MSC status,” he told a press briefing here yesterday.

He said the two-phase upgrading would provide an exceptional business environment for its 20-over tenants to ensure sustainability and business growth.

Shaiful Annuar said that by 2011, there should be about 30 tenants in Persoft Tower, mainly information and communications technology (ICT)-based companies.

As part of Persoft Properties’ value proposition for the Cybercentre status, the company planned to offer an incubator venture programme to assist ICT companies in capital funding, technical advice and business expansion, he said.

“We will also provide Microsoft training and certification programmes as well as IT graduate practical training for final-year university students,” he added.

Persoft Properties aims to provide a competitive world-class infrastructure and business-enabling office environment to house established as well as newly-set up local companies.

“We are the first privately-owned bumiputra company specialising in IT services with MSC Malaysia status,” Shaiful Annuar said.

Persoft Properties was formed on Feb 16, 2007 with an authorised capital of RM500,000 to own, manage or operate all properties belonging to the Persoft group.

Shaiful Annuar said the MSC Malaysia Cybercentre status would position the company as a serious player in the IT support and services globally.

“Typically, we have been achieving about 10% revenue growth annually but with the MSC status, the company can expect to perform better in the range of 20% to 25% per annum over time.” he said.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2008, Persoft Corp posted revenue of RM98.2mil.

Due to the economic downturn, it expects revenue this year to be around RM80mil.
